  • To introduce some theories of motivation
  • To consider the responsibilities of managers and the needs of team members
  • To consider some practical steps participants can take as line managers to help improve the satisfaction and performance of their staff

  • Participants consider three different views of motivation which have developed over the years and how relevant they may be
  • The process of motivation is examined
  • The work of “motivation experts”, their research and findings is examined
  • The fundamental is examined that each of us is motivated by different things – no one motivation technique is applicable in all situations and techniques are introduced for managers to select the appropriate approach
  • A model is introduced with practical steps managers can take in the workplace 
  • Checklists and reminders are provided to take away and apply
